Welcome to the FestivalSouth Opera Program, where performers are provided educational opportunities through public performances, and audiences are provided outstanding arts entertainment. Young artists rehearse and perform in a fully-staged production with orchestral accompaniment from May 13 through June 17, 2012. The FestivalSouth Opera Program is an integral component of FestivalSouth's mission to create an artistically challenging environment for young performers. The program provides training and performance experience for talented singers seeking to hone their musical and artistic skills.
The focus of the FestivalSouth Opera Program is on education throu
gh performance. Performers receive opportunities to perform and cover appropriate roles in a fully staged production. The program will begin in Natchez, Mississippi in cooperation with the Natchez Music Festival. FestivalSouth young artists will first have the opportunity to coach and understudy their roles alongside the resident professionals in Natchez. They will then make the transition over to Hattiesburg, MS for FestivalSouth where this time they will be the principle performers. FestivalSouth Opera voice instructors, directors, coaches and conductors are experienced professionals in their fields.
Another aspect of the Festival South Opera Program is the Solo Recital Competition, where participants have the opportunity to audition and perform in a Solo Competition Winners Recital.
Vocal positions are open for all leading roles, supporting roles, and ensembles.
